Dear Parents,

On Friday, February 17, the students are celebrating “Cultural Heritage Day”. A flyer was sent home last week with all the details. Some students will be performing for this special day. I need more parents to volunteer to bring some food from their country. Please let me know if you want to volunteer.

The students can bring treats for the class on Valentine’s Day. The treats must be in small baggies. If your child is giving out treats make sure they have one for every student. The students must wear their school uniform.

Dear Parents,

I hope you had a great weekend. You should have received your child’s report card. If your child needs to improve in any area you can come and talk to me so we can discuss how you can help at home.

On Friday, February 17, the students are celebrating “Cultural Heritage Day”. A flyer will be sent home later this week. If you know people who want to perform for this special day let me know. We are asking our students if they can perform with a traditional dance or song. 

This week, the students are going to choose a famous African-American. They will write a report about that person. I will give the students more details this week. This is going to be their assignment for Black History Month. The report is due on February 22.

Week of Jan. 30- Feb. 3

Dear Parents,

Thank you for coming to Mass with your children on Sunday. The students who read their part at Mass did a great job. I hope you took a moment to check out the photography exhibit in the Parish Hall after Mass. I think all the pictures were beautiful. I hope you received your child’s report card. If you have questions please let me know.

It is the beginning of the Third Quarter. It is very important that your child pay attention in class during lectures. This will make a difference in their grades. On the other hand, if your child received an “S” in behavior last quarter you might want to take a moment and talk to him or her about improving their behavior grade.

This week, the students will celebrate Catholic Schools Week. They will have different activities for each day.

Monday, January 30th/Beverly Hills Fire Department will visit @ 1:30 pm.

Tuesday, January 31st//Free Dress and Extra Recess/School Spelling Bee 9:30 for K-3 and 10:00 for Grades 4-8/Movie and Popcorn/No Homework

Wednesday, February 1st/Beverly Hills Mayor Barry Brucker will visit the school at 8:00/K-9 team will visit the school

Thursday, February 2nd/ Students will invite their parents to eat lunch with them at 11:50/Students will give letters to their parents

Week of Jan. 23-27

Dear Parents,

The reports cards will be mailed on January 27th. If you have questions about your child’s grades you can make an appointment with me to discuss this matter. Also, it is very important that your child get to school on time. I need two or three parents who can volunteer for Science Day on January 26th. This school activity is from 10:00 am to 2:50 pm. If you want to help in the classroom, you need to be Virtus Training.

This week, the students are going to write an essay about “Their Catholic Education at Good Shepherd”. I will pick one student to read his/her essay for the 5:30 Mass on Sunday, January 29th at the Church. Also, the students are going to give their Science Project presentation in class.

Week of Jan. 17-19

Dear Parents,

January 20th is the end of the Second Quarter. The report cards will be mailed on January 27th. Take a moment to check your child’s grades on Gradelink and encourage your child to get any missing work into me by Thursday, Jan. 19. On Friday, I sent a paper home with all the information for the Science project. The projects are due on January 23rd.

This week, the students started reading “The Westing Game”. This is their third reading novel. I hope they like it. There is a Virtus Class this week at Good Shepherd. If you want to help us in our classroom or come with us on field trips, you need to take this class. You can sign up in the office.

It is very important that your child listen in class. This will reflect on their test scores and behavior grade. Make sure your child go over his/her class notes before taking a test.

Today, the students started writing their Knights of Columbus Essay in class. Also, this week the students will review the book ”Bridge of Terabithia”. They will have a final test on Friday.

Happy New Year!

Welcome back to school. I hope everyone had a great Christmas vacation. Thank you to the parents who gave me a gift.

The students already finished reading their literature book “Bridge to Terabithia”. They will write a one page essay about the book.

Religion- The students practice the new Mass responses. Begin to read Chapter 8 and discuss the reading Scriptures in the book. Test on Thursday

Math- The students are working on three digit multiplication. They will have the 10A Test on Thursday.

Reading Literature- Quiz on Chapter 4-6 on Wednesday and Chapter 7-10 on Thursday.

English- The students are working on Verbs.

Social Studies- The students are reading the European Settlements Chapter 4

Science- The students will have a Test on Vascular Plants on Friday.

Week of Dec. 12-19

Dear Parents,

Thank you to Beth Trachsel for helping us with the door decoration. The students did a great job. Also, the students had a lot of fun decorating the door. Our door got the best presentation.

Today, we are going to have a Buddy Day activity. The students are going to use honey grahams to make gingerbread houses.  The students are wrapping their toys in class. They will carry them to the Church tomorrow. Also, they are continuing to practice their song “ Go Tell It On The Mountain” and ” Noche de Paz” for the Christmas program.

The Christmas program will be in the Good Shepherd Church at 6:00 PM. The students must wear nice Church clothes. No jeans and tennis shoes.

Week of Dec. 5-9

Dear Parents,

The permission slips for The Hot Chocolate Nutcracker are due on Tuesday. The students must bring a bag lunch. We will leave the school at 9:00 AM and return by 1:30 PM.

This week we are also decorating our door for the contest on Thursday. Special thanks to Beth Trachsel for helping us.

We are continuing practice our song, ” Go Tell It On The Mountain” for the Christmas Program at Church on December 14 at 6:00 PM.

Christmas Toy Drive- The students have to bring an unwrapped toy to school no later than Monday, December 12. We will wrap the toy together in class and carry it to the church on Tuesday, December 13.

Dear Parents,

The students had a great time at the Museum on Friday night. I think this was a great experience for the students and me as well. For some students this was their first time away from home. The students will not forget this memorable day. Thank you to the parents who gave their Friday night to help me with the students. They did a great job with the children. I wish everyone a “Happy Thanksgiving”.
